Peterhead to Ellon Water Main Upgrade

Project Overview
Scottish Water is progressing with its £38 million investment between Peterhead and Ellon, upgrading 23 kilometres of trunk water main overall.
This work will strengthen the resilience of the water network, helping ensure customers enjoy fresh, clear drinking water for years to come while reducing the risk of burst pipes.
Caledonia Water Alliance and AG Wilson are delivering this major investment on behalf of Scottish Water.

February 2026 Update - Castle Road, Ellon
Further works are scheduled on Castle Road in Ellon to facilitate the connection of the new trunk main to the existing water network.
Starting Monday, 16 February, three-way traffic lights will be implemented at the junction of Castle Road and Meadows Way for approximately four weeks.
We will have advanced signage up on Castle Road to advise commuters of the lights.
We appreciate the patience and understanding of road users and residents. We recognise that Castle Road was closed a few months ago, and we thank you again for your cooperation as we move forward with this essential work.
