Sunnyside Megray mains renewal
Project overview
We are taking care of the water services in your community by upgrading the water pipes between Maryculter and Stonehaven to ensure you continue to enjoy clear, fresh drinking water, and reduce the chance of pipes bursting.
The works are being carried out by our delivery partner, Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA).
What we are doing
We will be installing approximately 10.5km of new water main within private land and along the B979 between Sunnyside Cottage and the AWPR roundabout.

Current road closures
Details of road closures
B979 will be closed from 7th October for approximately 11 weeks.
Latest information - September 2026
Road Closure Sections 4 & 5 – B979 (from Fishermire to approx. 250m North of Husky Haven) will close from 7th October 2026 till approximately 22nd December 2026.
Access to and from side roads and individual properties within
the road closure area will be maintained.
The current diversion route utilizing the AWPR will remain in place during each road closure.
There will be a break in the road closures from December 22nd to the beginning of February 2027. During this time there may be some temporary traffic lights in place but the B979 will be open to all traffic.
The road closure is required to ensure we are carrying out the work as safely as possible.
