Gorebridge Septic Tank Repair Work

Project Overview
We have completed our repair work on the sewer network near Gore Glen Primary School in Gorebridge.
The work was required to address an issue with an underground storage tank, which was causing blockages and sewage to spill out of a nearby manhole.
The work was delivered by AG Wilson on behalf of Scottish Water.

What We Did
A large underground storage tank in the area was starting to fail. Parts of the internal structure had broken off and were blocking the outlet, which was causing sewage to back up and spill out of a nearby manhole. The tank was also heavily silted, making matters worse.
While temporary measures were put in place to manage the situation, these were not long-term solutions.
Following the investigative works carried out earlier in the summer, we secured a specialist contractor needed to move forward with the repairs.
As a result, work took place from Monday, 31 August 2026, lasting around four weeks.
During our earlier attendance on site, the tank was emptied and cleaned to allow a full assessment of its condition. The repair itself enabled us to address the structural issues identified within the tank and helped reduce the risk of further sewage backing up within the network.
We appreciate the relatively short notice. The specialist contractor was not previously available and has only recently been secured, allowing us to progress the repairs sooner than anticipated.
We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we completed these essential repairs.
