Work to set up a temporary site compound began in October
The initial phase of work will involve installing a temporary site access road and establishing the site compound. Site cabins will be positioned near the dead-end section of Langside Road, adjacent to the Bellshill Bypass.
Work will then commence on construction of the new storm storage tank, followed by the installation of a new pipeline in the fields adjacent to Laighlands Road. The project will then progress into Glebe Avenue, where a new pipeline and manhole will be installed, before concluding with the installation of a new rising main pipeline on Langside Road.
In order to provide safe access to the work area for our operatives, site vehicles and equipment, there will be a small number of trees and shrubs to trim or remove.
We appreciate that these works may cause inconvenience for the community. We thank them in advance for their patience and understanding while we complete this essential work.
Our alliance partner, Caledonia Water Alliance will be managing this work on our behalf and will do what they can to minimise disruption.
Update - February 2026
The programme is progressing well and work is ongoing to construct the new storm storage tank and install the new pipeline in the fields adjacent to Laighlands Road.
The project will now progress onto Langside Road to facilitate the installation of the new rising main pipeline. This phase of work will begin on Tuesday 10 March and is expected to last approximately four weeks.
Roadworks will be required to allow operatives to carry this work out safely. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation and will move along the road as work progresses.
