We are carrying out urgent sewer repair work in Edinburgh Old Town.

From Monday 2 March 2026 Forrest Road will be closed at its junction with George IV Bridge to allow a cundy carrying waste water to the main sewer to be repaired. The work is expected to last two weeks.

Traffic heading towards George IV Bridge will be diverted down Bristo Place, along Potterrow, Marshall Street, Nicholson Square and Nicholson Street, then along Chambers Street and back onto George IV Bridge.

Road users are being asked to follow all signs and to allow extra time for their journey. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and all businesses will be open as usual.
